What we cover
What review-management software does, how the main types of tool compare, how to choose one, how to ask for reviews within platform rules and US consumer protection law, how to reply to negative reviews, how to deal with fake or defamatory ones, which metrics to track, and how to set the whole thing up in a month.
Why we compare types, not vendors
Products in this market change features and prices often, and rankings go out of date quickly. We describe the four common types of tool and the questions to ask, so you can assess any product on your own shortlist. We don't publish vendor rankings, star ratings or prices, and we don't accept payment to describe a product favourably.
How the guides are put together
We base our guides on published sources: the Federal Trade Commission's rule on consumer reviews and its business guidance, platform policies for reviews and business profiles, and US laws such as the Consumer Review Fairness Act. Where a rule has a date, we give it. Platform menus and policies change, so we describe what to look for and suggest you check the current version.
What we are not
We are not a software vendor, a review platform, a marketing agency or a law firm. We don't post, remove or manage reviews for anyone, and nothing here is legal advice. The reply-draft helper on our negative reviews page runs in your browser and doesn't send what you type anywhere.
How the site is paid for
Two pages, the feature comparison and how to choose, include a clearly marked partner slot for review-management software. If you use it, we may earn a commission. Partners don't see or approve our pages, and we always explain the free options too. Details are on the disclosure page.
Where to start
- Not sure you need software: free tools first.
- Comparing products: the feature grid, then the buying checklist.
- Starting to ask for reviews: the compliant way.
- Facing a bad review now: how to reply.
